Wow! MEV Outdoor Solutions recently completed a patio and french drain installation at our home and we couldn’t be happier with their work. We needed to solve a water drainage situation and wanted to replace an on grade deck with a patio. Every aspect of the proposal from Marvin was explained and consistent with all our research on how best to solve the water flow problem. No other contractor even came close. Every employee was professional and customer service oriented, from Marvin, owner, to Alex, crew leader, and each worker on the crew. Since our home is a middle unit villa, everything had to be moved to the rear of our property by wheelbarrow, which the crew accomplished with minimal disturbance to our neighbor’s turf (which they reseeded). Arrived consistently on time and completed the job with minimal impact on an existing garden as well. Our patio is beautiful and the first rain revealed no standing water anywhere!! Don’t hesitate to use this company- they are simply outstanding! Update: Three years have passed and today MEV solutions returned to our property to replace the perma-sand between the pavers, since it was not performing as expected. This was due to defective materials, not an installation issue. Amazingly, this was done at NO COST to us- as Marvin had reminded me that he had guaranteed us that he would take care of any concern if any ever developed! A truly honest man of integrity, who deserves the trust we placed in him and his company!

He was very patient with minor change requests and also provided suggestions to enhance the design, like adding a Privacy Screen for the Fire Pit area. We wanted a focal point added to the patio pavers, a “Compass Rose.”Eddie located the design at a company called “PaverArt” in NJ. It is stunning. I reached out to M.E.V. for a consultation regarding rainwater pooling on my property during heavy rains. I showed Marvin some photos and videos of a rain event, and he provided two options to address the issue. We decided on a combination of a French drain and a swale to divert the water away from the house. On the day of the job, I was home, and the crew lead, Victor, walked me through the process, taking the time to explain everything. They even accommodated a few final requests I had while the work was underway. Since I was present, I got to witness the team’s exceptional attention to detail firsthand. Small things showed their commitment to quality, like the attention they give when tying the pipe joints to ensure they wouldn’t come apart after being buried. Even after completing the main work, the crew took the extra time to lay straw and carefully cut the straw mesh to fit the area perfectly, then they secured it with soil staples so it wouldn’t blow away. This finishing step alone took about an hour, which was impressive because other companies I’ve hired in the past would’ve just laid the straw quickly and left. The team was also very respectful of the property and did a fantastic job cleaning up after the work was completed. Once, we received our estimate and negotiated a fair price for a heavy duty turf that didn't require rubber seeding, they were ready to begin work in just a few weeks. This was the second project MEV has done for us, and like the first, which was the replacement of our patio a year ago, the outcome exceeded our expectations. When we invited Edgar out to give us an estimate for this project, our objective was simply to replace jagged and uneven stone pathways in the gardens around our house that we had personally built with pathways that would afford better footing and to add some lighting. Edgar immediately approached the project more holistically, proposing ideas that would tie the new project with the old one. In addition, we were quickly reminded of his professionalism. Compared to another contractor we had brought out for an estimate, it was just obvious that he knew what he was doing, carefully explaining what would be involved and what to expect. Moreover, we were reminded of the enthusiasm and pride he takes in his work. Receiving what we considered a very fair cost estimate (without haggling), we signed on the dotted line. The actual construction phase started on time. And it went smoothly, despite there being lots of minor design details to work through. We were consulted on every decision, with Edgar, Marvin and Victor constantly saying, “I want you to be happy.” And they meant it. We never got the impression that a decision that would require some additional work was an imposition. The few minor issues that we noticed – inevitable in a project this size - they just fixed. Their crew was professional and hard working, and the construction was done in the 3 days Edgar estimated it would take. And they worked around our schedule, which included significant replanting inspired by the new layout and look, to do the mulch. We remain amazed at what they accomplished. As a whole, it is so much more than we initially envisioned. Beyond that, Marvin, Edgar, and Victor are just nice people, and we enjoyed working with them. We can’t recommend MEV highly enough. We have been doing a lot of work on our home in the past couple of years, so we've seen our fair share of contractors, both good and not-so-good. Marvin and the people at M.E.V. are easily at the very top of the list for us. The thing that clearly stands out more than anything else is that Marvin is just incredibly thoughtful, kind, courteous, and respectful. We were unsure of exactly what we wanted to do with our walkway and retaining wall projects, and he was so helpful in helping us to identify what we wanted. This was primarily because he actually listened carefully to us as we described our needs, and when he could tell that we were unsure, he offered suggestions that really made sense for us. But he was also always flexible and open to us changing our minds, and he really took his time with us and made himself available when we needed to consult with him. When the time came for him to give us a proposal, his quote was extremely fair and reasonable. And his crew did very high quality work that we were very, very pleased with. They started and finished the job when they said they would, and they were very polite and courteous throughout the process, including being very attentive to cleaning up after they were finished. And although Marvin's crew was clearly very competent, there was never a time when we felt that he was not on top of what was going on with our project -- In fact, it appeared to us that he was on site at our home most of the time, either supervising or directly involved in the work, himself. His communication was outstanding, he provided excellent information and resources for us, and he was both professional and friendly to us at all times. And in the end, we are so happy with the results, and we have gotten lots of positive comments on the project -- most notably from other contractors who have told us how great our new sidewalk, porch, and retaining wall look!

My backyard had no way to walk from the back garage door to the rest of the concrete path (unless I walked in the grass). In addition the concrete path was original to the 50 plus year old home and two people could not walk side by side. Finally, I had no outdoor patio space to sit and eat crabs on. The folks at MEV redid my backyard and it looks great! It was ~6000 sq. ft. of ripping up the topsoil, leveling, and grading...then laying fresh top soil and tall fescue sod. My wife and I are absolutely delighted with the driveway extension that Mr. Edgar Padilla and his professional crew at M.E.V. Outdoor Solutions, LLC installed for us. I never knew that a slab of concrete could be so beautiful—partly because we don’t have to play musical cars every day, but mostly because the entire process was made so stress-free with Edgar’s capable leadership. We’re not only very pleased with the outcome, but Edgar made sure that he showed up on time for the estimate (after work hours), described in detail everything he planned to do (including the rebar drilled into the side of the existing driveway so that the new and old sections remain aligned--something none of the other four contractors offered), gave me his estimate right away, came in at an excellent price, provided everything we needed to give to our HOA, kept us continually informed of his plans for completion of the project, made sure to introduce us to his foreman and the rest of his crew, and completed the job on time (while dodging a bunch of snow and rain) and on budget, even with a slight expansion of the original scope of work. He even had a crew of four able-bodied men there (instead of a Bobcat) to excavate a large tree stump, so they didn’t have to make a mess on the original driveway with the tractor. We have a few more projects to do around the house, and will definitely be using them again. And now, we don’t need to request a bunch of estimates for those projects, because we’re confident that M.E.V. Outdoor Solutions, LLC will do a fantastic job for the best price, and in a professional and timely manner.
